Analysis of The Hallow
Christopher McKay 1989 (California)
I can feel a hollowness in me
Something's missing that shouldn't be.
I can feel a hole in my soul
Why do I feel so empty?
I can sense a void inside
Somewhere something used to hide.
I can sense a vacant gap
What is it that I can't find?
I can tell something's gone
Something I had used to be.
I can tell I'm not well
Missing pieces I can't see.
I can touch a cavity inside
An empty space that wont hide.
I can feel a hole in my soul
What is it that I can't find?

About this poem
I had written the original draft of this poem early October of 2020. This was a grim and terrible time for me, as the person I had married and been with for just over 5 years at the time, had gas lit and tugged me into a self destructive loveless life in the toxicity of our relationship. As my mentality turned more and more inward against myself, I felt I had become the enemy and the reason for it all and neared the point of ending my own life.
