Analysis of A Candle and a Prayer for Joyce

I’ve watched you suffer, my sister - wanting to let go
To be with our Savior and Father – and I know
You’ve sorted through all the years that have passed
Asking questions and praying that this wouldn’t last -
Through it all you’ve been strong,
With your faith shining bright -
So I pray that your prayers are answered tonight.

Refrain:
I lit a candle for you, sister, in the darkness tonight
And prayed God to take you by dawn’s first light
To end all your struggling - to give you rest
But most of all - did I tell you the best?
It’s to walk with our Savior And Father of Love

Dear Jesus, You know that I don’t understand
How one moment we’re talking and holding hands...
It happened so quickly - it seems so unreal
I don’t know what I expected -
I don’t know what to feel...
But I know that I trust You more than ever before
To take her home gently - she stands at Your door.
Repeat Refrain

Spirit lift her up
Spirit take her home
Jesus take her burden
She’s one of your own.
