Analysis of The Raven and The Dove
When you glance at me going past you in the hall
Know that it is not the real me you call
I am but a being without a purpose
Playing a role day after day
Wearing a mask with no holes for sunlight to shine through
When the phrase “Are you well?” is asked of me
My words are lodged down my throat
Locked away in a cell
The key lost in the abyss of my mind
So do not speak of lies
Nor phrases you doubt yourself
Speak of your story
For I am deaf to your reasons
You are the dove free of chains
But I am the raven held to the ground by my own will
So do not say you and me are alike
For we are not
