Analysis of "Iron Sharpens Iron"
No wonder then the embers refused
Going to ash.
Across 'operation python dance' I came in the dailies.
I asked; he said it was a fight against
The Pythons.
I read through the tabloid; it said 'Crocodile dance'.
When I asked; he said it was against
The crocodiles.
I went to the South-south, I saw him Stagnating the rivers.
I then sought explanation from the Master; He said it was "enduring",
Choosing the last resort first.

About this poem
"Iron Sharpens Iron" is a political poem that describes the level of injuries and salts the government of the day in Nigeria is inflicting on the already ailing state of African society. The poet ponders over the insane actions of the military personnels orchestrated by vissionless leaders who are bereaved of lasting solution to societal and political matters. Here, military show of power which ignites more violence than peace is preferred to dialogue which tends to address the fundamental issues in the society. more »
