Analysis of Calm and Quiet Soul
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
My heart is not lifted O Lord,
My eyes are not raised up too high;
Do not as if being ignored,
While you are hearing my cry.
I absorb not myself with things,
Too great and marvelous for me;
I just look for heavenly things,
Great matters that my eyes can see.
I want to calm and quiet my soul,
From his mother a weaned child;
A weaned child to reach my goal,
No longer to be defiled.
I keep faith and hope in the Lord,
From this time forevermore;
And to remain in one accord,
Always to love and to adore.
