Analysis of My Son Is Gone

David Granteer 1937 (Montana)

Donnie was born a normal boy
He played with trucks and other toys
But one day when he was three
He fell to the ground unusually
The doctor said a vertebrae
Had collapsed and gone away
I asked in tears for an answer
The answer was "Bone Cancer"
For seven years I watched him grow
Not knowing when I'd see the next blow
One bone after another eaten away
Until there was nothing left: Hooray!
Death a blessing. Torture gone Away.
