Analysis of Boundaries/Shift of Power

Don't play me like a fool for I won't fail.
Don't paint me the bad guy and hang me by that nail.
Don't use me like a commodity meant to expire.
Don't leave me hanging like a bird on that wire.

Stop with the games like a child.
Stop that nonsense, it makes my pulse go wild.
Stop pushing and pulling me this way and that.
Stop making promises and leaving me flat.

I gave away my self respect and power, now I am taking it all back.
I am not cruel and manipulative like you are behind my back.
I deserve better than that and, damnit, I matter.
It's like an old baseball game and you need a new batter.
I have cut the ties that once did bind.
I will never allow myself to be treated unkind.

Shame on you for each and every slight.
Shame on me for avoiding each fight.
Shame is all you should be allowed to feel.
I know now that at least I can say I kept it real.
