Analysis of The Story Of My Life

The Story Of My Life

1988: I was born on a Thursday. My mom told me once that 1988 had the hottest summer (she’s been gone for 13 years now). I have 11 siblings that range in age from age 7-age 41. My mom has 5 girls (which leaves me in the middle) & my father has 8 kids (I’m the 2nd oldest). My mom & I found out about my disability at age 4.

1993-2002: I start K-5 with a sister on the way (she’s my co-#1A1-Day1). I was teased & talked about for it until 8th grade. I went on my 1st out-of-town trip that same year.

2002-2007:I started high school in 2002 & graduated in 2007. My mom took my little sisters, my Aunt & my cousin to church that same year. My sisters & I got baptized on All Saints Sunday that November & mom became a neighborhood minister in 2003. My sister Pooh gave birth to my niece Izabella in 2004 (my junior year of high school). I would take her to the store & the people who stayed in the neighborhood we stayed in thought she was my kid (haha, that was funny). High school was decent & kids got to sell candy to pay for prom tickets, how cool is that?

2007-present: I graduated from high school, went to Mexico on a church immersion trip & lost my mom all in the same year. My nephew Juel was born days before my mom died. I got my 1st job at pizza hut in 2009 & my Aunt Linda died months before I started my job. My sister Chelsea graduated high school in 2010, my brother Jay was born earlier that year, & BriAnna graduated high school in 2012. My sister Alisa was born in 2011. My brother Evin, my niece/goddaughter Azaria & my nephew Denzel were born in 2013. My nephew Jayden was born in 2015. My nephew Samuel was born the year after. I have a 1-year-old nephew named Miles (he’s so cute) & a 1-year-old niece named Lanessa (she’s so cute). I lost most of my grandmothers in 6 years & wrote 39 poems in 10 years. An article with some selected pieces was published October 1st, 2020 (that was the most exciting thing ever).

My story doesn’t stop here.  It’s still being written as I type this poem.
