Analysis of dead gods

i am the dead gods that haunt your dreams

i am Mnemosyne; i plague your mind.
i hold you captive in the things that have passed,
in a cage of nostalgia and flashbacks,
in 'what if's and regrets. you cannot get rid of me,
as you have made me what I am. i hurt you,
because i remind you of what you have done.
i am a mirror and you are a monster.

i am Metis; i whisper thoughts in your ear,
i warn you of the future and you ignore me,
i tell you the inevitable, the truth, wisdom,
and you destroy me in aggressive acts of denial.
in kindness i provide counsel but in vengeance,
i provide honesty- ignorance will be your downfall,
and you have proved yourself worthy of an end.

I am Khione; an icy mistress of cold and despair.
I destroy and I wither- life shudders in my wake.
I send shivers down your spine and bite your nerves,
I am winter, I am both quiet and roaring,
Both freezing and burning as I kill.
I have wiped out entire civilizations,
And you are the next in my list of victims.

I am Eos; I bring the morning on my shoulders.
My hair reflects the light of a new day,
The idea of tomorrow, renewal of existence,
A chance at second chances. Is that your wish?
Another opportunity to run wild across the earth?
My fingers stretch across the lands, as warmth,
But for you I bring nothing but reminders
Of the consequences you cannot shake off.

I am Melinoe; I am the sacred, holy ground of the dead.
I am your ancestors looking at you in distaste.
I am the echo of parting words of loved ones,
the remnants of a life you wish you lived.
I will embrace you when it is time for you
To join the rest of my spirits in the fiery pit.
You have made you choices and done your sins,
It is now time for you accept the result of those things.

I am the dead gods that haunt your dreams.
I am the holiness that burns your hands
So bad that you can’t hold onto anything.
I am the righteousness that breaks your back
And snaps your spine under my weight.
I am the wrath that makes your ears ring
And nose bleed, and mouth choke on lies.
I am everything you tried to bury as a child,
And I am everything you are afraid of as an adult.

I am the dead gods that haunt your dreams.
