The Lady With the Feathered Hat

I would leave the world of my dreams behind
At the dawning of every new day-
Somehow the sky, nearly magenta in its morning’s hues
Would meet with the pavement upon the pathway that I walked.

It was there upon a street corner that I first saw her,
That lovely lady with the feathered hat,
Her hair, a charcoal black tinted with shades of gold,
Would caress her shoulders-
Her eyes, a misty sapphire blue captured the sunlight of the early morning.

I would look into her eyes and smile,
And she would return my smile with gentle laughter.
She would turn her head ever so slightly,
And I could see a unique aura of charm about her.

She never spoke words, but seemed to speak to me from her heart,
Emanating from her majestic spirit.
Her face, highlighted with a softened glow-
I knew would remain inside the world of my thoughts for always.

Within my dreams of starlit nights, I would be dancing close to her.
I could feel the vibrations of her amorous touch.
Every morning I would see her- that lovely lady with the feathered hat
And I would follow her shadow beneath the risen sun.

One early morning blackened with a heavy fog,
I walked the same pathway I had walked every day
And for the first time I did not see her, that lovely lady with the feathered hat-

Last night I had a dream that she came to life
Where she was dancing with me
Beneath the stars and the crescent moon.

When I close my eyes, I shall always see her-
Her eyes capturing the sunlight in that most amazing way,
Her magical and winning smile, and her face all aglow.

I shall always feel the joy of having found her,
Though now only in my dreams and fantasies-
That lovely lady with the feathered hat-
Who made my spirit come alive…
