Analysis of Checkmate!

Ronald-Bunch 1982 (Grand Rapids)

Here's a little doodle,
I drew myself.

I see a chess board
And every piece
I'm afraid to move.

If I'm going to play the game
I must place my name.

Am I a king, a queen?
well, I did sing:
A rook, pawn, bishop,
I’m a knight
That sounds right.

Every move
It makes me want to faint,
Is this a trait or mental illness state?

Now I'll fall,
But,
If I control my destiny
I can't stall.

Checkmate!
I'll take a prostitute at this rate.

In the end
It doesn't matter
If you're sane or plane,
Just that you played the game.
