I walked down Martin Place to revisit ole Sydney
Shame crept upon me that stayed with me
Old Sal was shopping at her favourite skip bin
Carting her shoppin’ trolley with she has within.
Ole Dave from the mission sleeps at the library
More and more old folk’s s sleep at the art gallery
Out in the cold there are so many who are old
Most of them know well to move on as you’re told
No one gives a dam in this lucky Cunt-ry
Fab if you’re rich but it is pure hell if you’re poor
Every one who’s rich will show thee the door
Great pretending cold charities pretend they care
Like vacuum cleaners suck up rich cash everywhere
All follow suite in that union of crime
Pretending they care but have little time
Budgets are low so most have to go
Profit from their misery as we all well know
Down in Green Square right on the crossing
Behind the transformer old Len turning and tossing
Under his brolley he hides from the rain
Freezing conditions until he feels no pain
Waiting to die like so many in the city
