Analysis of I WONDER
Dr. T. Pinnock 1962 (Hartford, Ct)
I wonder about the future and what’s coming ahead
I wonder what it will be like.
The future you will not know until you see.
The future is ahead. Go to bed and the next morning
You will see something new.
I know the future burst until you take that curse off of it.
Why do we try to see the future?
The future you cannot see.
But it is for you and me.
The future is unlike now.
It will be better than this.
You will be able to kiss.
The people are strongly going to object to this world we live in.
We are pinned to this world.
Nothing at all, we could do, to stop this world being so cruel.
To all.
The future is almost here.
I agree we will see a better world to see.

About this poem
Death and sickness surrounded Dr. Pinnock. At night a child would be alive then dead by morning. He observed death each day. So, why was he hopeful in this poem? He surmised the future would be better. He saw the present world as cruel. This poem is derived from one person, Dr. Pinnock's mother. She brainwashed him to believe his future would be grand by struggling.
