Analysis of Hell over me

Dr. T. Pinnock 1962 (Hartford, Ct)

Darkness and loneliness in my
cold heart, I feel.
Quiet sounds crushing me
and hurting my soul
Burning me, I suffer in quiet.
Hell has come true, the darkness
of the wind, blowing me into hell hands.
Hell crushes me into the earth, my words
yell to god, but the echoes are ignored.
Then I beg, in my suffering to hell.
But my begs are crushed into my soul.
I cry to god, pick me from the horror,
that you put upon me.
The falls down-in, whispering damn
your body into hell's soul.
I feel something staring at me,
I hide my face.
“Dissolved your heart in the
bath of blood.”
Quietly you will go insane.

About this poem

What "hell" was on a 13-year-old Dr. Pinnock. Was it his cerebral palsy, the reaction to it, or the hospital to which he was confined? He blames God for his suffering. ‎Dr. Pinnock refers to "body" and "staring.". His cerebral palsy and confinement were hell on him.

Dr. T. Pinnock

Dr. Pinnock first wrote poetry in the institution he resided in inside a classroom at 8 years old. The typewriter was old and manual with a keyguard. A keyguard is a device with an opening for each key to prevent a person lacking fine motor skills from accidentally hitting a key. Dr. Pinnock was granted permission to use the class alone. He labored there typing for hours ignoring his cerebral palsy. Dr. Pinnock grew up with his family until August of 1970. Poverty forced his parents to make him a ward of the State of Connecticut. more…
