Analysis of What Happened? ... To The Summer Of 2008…

What happened? ... to the summer of 2008…

Summer’s over.
And I hardly even got to know you
and your beautiful summer smile;
and now I’ll miss you & your smile
for the rest of my wintry life
I shall be in denial.

What happened? ?
To that beautiful summer of 2008…
Summer pranks? Puck run amok?
Summer cream turned sour
in the hands of messengers who waifed & dallied
or parried & couldn’t wait.

In only 9 short days,
now you wave only out of necessity,
as I just turn & walk away.
No angry words spoken in person,
no impure thoughts or raucous public display.
Just 9 fools dressed as messengers gone astray.

What happened?  ?  ? ...
To what was shaping up to be
that most beautiful summer smile of 2008?
And you never even really knew
just who I really was,
as we spoke alone in person
but only once.
Once…
by that most beautiful Summer smiling hand of fate.

What happened? ... to the summer of 2008…
