Analysis of Despair
Samuel B. Duff 1981 (Michigan)
That moment when
You see
What waits around the corner
And it hits you
Flash
(She doesn’t want me)
Like a ton of fists
Bright and hot
Broken nose
Punch to the gut
Like a fistful of nails
Kick to testicles
(No one wants me)
Crushing you
Can’t breathe
Drowning
(I’ve been alone forever)
The whole world goes
Pinpoint dim
dragging you down
Into the deep
Closing over you
(I’ll be alone forever)
Swallowed
You disappear
From white to green to black
