Analysis of Untitled

Call me a cracker.

Take me
from my home.
Ship me,
canistered,
long across
a void in darkness.
Accompany me
with cries of sorrow,
whimpers of death.

Call me a cracker.

Disgard me
like trash
to scavengers
in a sea
without hope of
preservation,
without strength to swim.

Call me a cracker.

Auction me
chained to my brother,
my sister.
Break me and bridle me
under the whip.
Work me like
cattle
in fields of hot toil
and blistered finger.

Call me a cracker.

Take my children
like litters from dogs.
Strip me
away
from my moorings,
swept by the sharp gales
and cold tides of profit.

Call me a cracker.

Release me
to myself
with blood lost,
without treasure.
Give me 40.
Give me a mule.

Call me a cracker.

Disenfranchise me.
Steal my voice.
Keep me separate,
undereducated, and
struggled.
Accuse me of poverty
of thought
and action.

Call me a cracker.

Pity me
charities
without hope
of progress.
Devalue my
accomplishment,
my art,
my faith.
Make me
prideless.

Call me a cracker.

Care for me
last.
Hold me
back in chains
of malady.
Sicken me
with vice
and idle,
wealth-less of
joys and foundation.

Call me a cracker.

Incarcerate me
when I’m loud
in frustration.
Re-shackle me
to gangs
of violence.
Bleed me in
the streets.
Un-employ me,
felon-ed to feeble.

Call me a cracker.

Mock me
when I say
I matter.
Leave me
to riot my life.
Stand on me
when I breath,
when I cry to my mother.

Call me a cracker.

See me
without filtered lens.
Hear me
without muffled ear.
Yield me
fair to
equal,
to home,
to free.
