Analysis of Left To Leave Not To Guess

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Not a minute did you wait,
For me to hesitate and come...
With my shoulder.
To lay your weary head upon.
While patiently listening to you,
Complain about others.
What they did or did not do.
In ways to please your expectations.

And...
Not a word did I hear you ask,
If I needed from you comfort too!
This...
Either I misunderstood.
Did not comprehend.
Or...
Happened so often,
I took the act of it for granted.

Yet...
Not to misunderstand,
There I had and have been for you.
I can not count the number of times,
Stopping to drop,
Whatever it was I did.
Without a thought of it to do.

Although...
This to expect I don't from you.
But I have heard from others to say,
It is me who selfishly...
Will look the other way.
Thinking of myself.
And no one else to express concern.

To leave me left not to guess,
As to who it was to have that believed!
