As a follow-up to the fair review we promised a few days ago, we wanted to update you on the situation regarding the November and December poetry contest winners. After thoroughly examining the entries and using AI detection tools, we concluded that the 1st place winning entries were generated with the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI).

We understand that this has been a frustrating situation, and we truly appreciate your patience. At Poetry.com, we are committed to ensuring fairness and authenticity in our contests, and we’ve taken this matter seriously. We've updated our terms and conditions to clearly state that submissions must be original and created by humans. Additionally, we’ve added a checkbox to the contest submission form that must be checked by all participants certifying that their work is original and was not created using AI.

We’ve updated the winners’ list and will be distributing prizes accordingly. We hope this addresses the concerns raised, and we continue to be dedicated to fostering a community that values authentic, human-created work.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we move forward!

So apparently the winners poem was AI altered. That needs to be situated right away. I mean, everyone here only uses the time and energy to write. It's not like we have busy lives right?.......This should be an even plain field.

Very high level of competition in December.
A clarification. When a poem is first published on this sight and subsequently entered into the monthly competition, it seems to be treated as a different poem.
Can the views, comments and voting be combined. Thank you.

thanks for this request because I would like that as well. I much rather the views are combined, as well, rather than have 2 of the same poem with its own number of views.

Just confirming, are we allowed to submit poems we've already had published elsewhere, for the monthly contests or do they have to be previously unpublished?

I haven’t seen any stipulations about this, Eric.

After reading all entries and found some amazing work.

Here’s a poem crafted with all the AI words, weaving them into a vivid, layered piece of imagery and emotion:

    The Eternal Weave
    -by AI

    Beneath twilight’s soft canopy,
Where ripples kiss the verdant shore,
A zephyr stirs the thicket deep,
    Entwined with whispers evermore.

    The tapestry of time unfolds,
In threads of dusk and dawn’s embrace,
Eclipsed by stars, a gossamer glow,
    A filigree of endless space.

    Auroras bloom in celestial dance,
While comets etch their fleeting trace,
    Orbiting through a stellar waltz,
    In vast, eternal, boundless grace.

    The labyrinth of life extends,
Through meadows lush, through glades serene,
A ritual carved in stone and sky,
    A prophecy yet unforeseen.

    Evanescent moments falter,
    Frayed by echoes, fleeting, shy,
As petals fall and rivers wander,
    Underneath a velvet sky.

Time’s pendulum sways, slow and tender,
    Braiding epochs into dreams,
A paradox of light and shadow,
    Raptured by infinity’s beams.

    Rapture, anguish, joy, devotion,
Tides of sorrow, waves of bliss,
    Through mosaic lives we spiral,
    Etched by fate’s ephemeral kiss.

    In the twilight of existence,
Where dusk and dawn forever bind,
    Our stories shimmer, fragile, fleeting,
    Yet eternal in the mind.

    -AI

Hello, poetry team, I submitted a poem to your competition but I am no longer seeing the title among the 149 submissions so far. Is this a glitch?

My apology, seems my title was accidentally edited, leaving off the last part of the full text. I fixed the problem. All's well that ends well! (-:

There's one thing that always bothered me. One of your poets is handicapped and ask me one time why can't she ever win a ribbon for something she done? I don't mean give her a contest ribbon. But maybe you should start giving ribbons out I would like a ribbon for something I've done?
