Candle Of Life

A candle of life to each one is given.
How long it will burn is how we are living.
Some will become weak and dim as it bends
Soon gone are the candles burned from both ends.
A few burn so brightly and will always be there.
By the power of loving, kindness and prayer.
Life is a candle, a light of learning.
How has your "Candle of Life" been burning?

In Reality

The man next door gets murdered.
No one seems to care.
Not a sound was murmured.
Wasn't anybody there.

A little girl was taken.
Never to be found.
The neighborhood was shaken.
No one was around.

A man was beaten by police.
Big mistake of getting caught.
Some person grabs a camera.
Lots of money for this shot.

Some people getting bolder.
Blaming it on rage.
Others getting colder.
Blaming it on age.

For a while we're all so sad.
Then we make a fuss
In reality we're so glad.
That it didn't happen to us.

In Mirrors Past

I look into the mirror
and stare at this face.
Life has gotten dearer.
Time has left its trace.

What happened to the innocence?
Where is that youthful glow?
This isn't the mirror I saw myself in
so many years ago.

Innocence became reality.
Youth gave way to mature
Now I wish I had the mirror
I looked into before.

Mirrors show an image
We may not want to see.
The way we are today.
How we used to be.

Remember while you're looking.
The reflection doesn't last.
Just think of how it was
When you looked In Mirrors Past.
