Walt Christian Larsen

Lancaster, California

I was born in the vintage year of 1935, to Viola Mae Stringer Larsen from Iowa, and Walter Arnold Larsen from Denmark. College: Riverside campus of Loma Linda University for one year, and Riverside City College another, with speech as my major and sociology as minor. Aerospace is my time, and a Mechanic; top of the line! Pastimes: Reading the great authors, numismatics, oil painting, lost wax, silver and gold sculpture casting, amateur radio KE6KRE, and the most exciting and rewarding: my feelings put to rhyme: "Poetry"! Choices although not always wise, are motivated by IDEALISM, the gauge of my endeavors.

A THIRSTY SOUL

I was but five, when first twas heard Meditation's sweet refrain.
and the magic of the ancient violin, as the harmonious notes
began to rain.
As I travel with a teary eye back to a more sensitive time,
I recall, it was not a diminutive segment of my nursery rhyme.
Lost in a trance of supreme transparency, he strolled back
and forth.
drawing with his bow, melodic appreciation to a baby's heart
for what it's worth
To me.
twas the impassioned plea,
for a youthful heart set free.
Twas but his parlance to a thirsty soul
struck to muteness, by my beloved father's soliloqual roll.
Was but my time with him to feel ever so near
and not a tangibility on earth to fear.

CATHEDRAL UNREAL

I see the turquoise sky above from the shadowy
depths of eucalyptus forest.
It seems a vast cathedral,
and it's silence could be accompanied by the re-
verberation of giant organ pipes unreal.

It was in the sunny seaside community of Goleta
small.
where we found a sacred garden of tranquility's
call.
Millions of beautiful objects of HIS creation did-
closed.
boggle the mind with intrinsic colors so sharply
enclosed,

MONARCHS' the princes' of butterflies supreme,
arrive every year as if in a dream.
with never an absence to their port of call
unless because of greed, their historical trees do
fall.

We wonder how long this extravaganza will last
in a new world of concrete's arrival so fast.
We would like to prolong the incredible sight,
but they will be gone soon unless we all put up a
fight.

These incredibly beautiful trees' are quite some-
thing to see.
and then to be dusted with Monarchs' supreme, they
might charge a great fee.
but lucky for us, it's still something wonderful that's
free,
the incredible, delicate navigators' sent to us with love,
from our FATHER above.
