Virginia was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1926. Receiving music scholarships, she studied at three universities and became a Minister of Music. In 1949, she married her high school sweetheart. They had seven children (now married); and moved to Florida in 1965, where Virginia taught and directed music at St. Claire Catholic Church and School. Upon retirement, they relocated to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Virginia returned to Florida after her husband's death. Currently Minister of Music at St. John, Lutheran Church, she writes organ voluntaries and anthems for her choirs. Strongly believing in Bible teachings, she tries to portray them in poetry. |
Morning PrayerCome Jesus, my RedeemerO come and abide thou with me, Come now and gladden my spirit My spirit is longing for Thee. Awaken my heart with the morning And guide me throughout all the day And then when the evening is falling Be with me, dear Jesus, I pray. Thou art my life Thou art my love Fill with holiness from above Oh Thou, sweet Jesus My soul calls to Thee Come Jesus Redeemer Abide Thou with me. |
AngelsAngels of mercy, Angels of loveGod's Holy Messengers from above Guard and protect me throughout the night And lead me into His heavenly light. Angels before me guiding my way angels behind, that I, don't go astray Angels beneath me lifting me up Angels above, overflowing my cup. Angels beside me holding my hands Thank you dear God for your heavenly bands You, with your gossamer wings, like a dove Carry my prayer to heaven above. |
The Double RainbowOnce I saw a rainbowOver the ocean blue Encompassed by a shadow Of every color and hue. It was a double rainbow Most beautiful to see and underneath the rainbow Were two sails upon the sea. I think it was God's message Quite old, and get still new It takes both rain and sunshine To make the lovely view. As we go along life's highway A lot of rain must fall. But we can find the rainbow When the sun shines over all. So, if you feel discouraged And don't know what to do Just trust for God's own sunshine To bring a rainbow over you. |
