Viola Haizlip

Watervliet, NY, USA

I created stories long before I ever picked up a pen and paper.  I wrote a book last year which I would like to publish in the very near future.  Apparently, poetry is my true talent.  I wrote "The Need" one night a few days before I was notified about this contest.  It was a concept rolling around in my mind for a while.  By the grace of divine intervention, I was able to express my interpretation of humankind being lost. I would like to dedicate every work I’ve ever written to my parents.

Untitled

Open, easy, free, and natural born
God blesses us with beauty unscorn
Green blades of grass bursting with color
Flowers, trees spring from the Earth-Mother
Life can be very chaotic and hazy
Leaving some to think, just maybe
Is there more than the car and the house?
Is that all human existence is about?
My simple advice is to live in the moment
The scenic ride home is time well spent
The  beauty of nature can make you say "wow"
and help to appreciate living in the "now."

Earthly Armor

At birth we are perfect beings
from The Light Source we come.
Without pain our world seeming
No hurt of judgment of anyone.

As we grow change and absorb
the tough earthly armor begins
Altering our pure perception of the world
Giving us negativity in out opinions

Life may take us to many places
urging us to free our minds
but earthly armor chokes the heart’s spaces.
Conformity wins and the armor tightly binds.

Some polish their armor to a blinding glow
the familiar is chosen over freeing the heart.
A whole lifetime is wasted all for show.
A few are brave enough to want to start.

When one realizes a lifetime is long to wait
finding the self and soul as mates.
Inner peace prevails the soul and self no longer
at war.

Imprints of the Soul

The soul wants what it knows
and the soul knows what it wants.
One life time for one being
The soul comes back many times
Learning what it needs to, leaving
behind the most minute details of the
 being it inhabited, taking only
the knowledge.
Each Journey into flesh is a
time to learn whether the life
is noble or dark and cruel, the
soul emerges a wiser one.

The creativity in me stems from the Divine
Spirit within me.  I am a vessel.
