Verna E. Emerson

Coffeen, Illinois

I have been writing for a short time, two years is a short span. I work as a cook in a nursing home. I enjoy numerous outdoor activities like equitation, hunting, fishing, and bicycling. I am an active member in my church. I have had a few poems published in the local newspaper, Famous Poets Society, and Sparrowgrass Poetry Forum, Inc. I also have poetry in The National Library of Poetry. I enjoy writing. I write to lift one's spirit, for what I write maybe a focus point in the only moments spent in a view.

Go For The Gold

Leave your ashes behind you
Go into the world to attend
God's Holy perceptions of life He yet wants you to live.

Don't be afraid of adventure
God casts you a life before Him
Don't be afraid of the dangers
Remember His Love is for you.

All of what looks upon you effects the sight that you see.
Follow your hearts desire into the illusive dream.

Keep your eyes on Jesus pass through the walls of disdain disillusions are always before you.
As you make your march toward today.

A Man's Journey

Captured by life, held by our dreams, we follow our Savior,
Into the stream.

Worship with depth, your strength He will lead,
Straight to the throne, of the Heavenly King.

The Spirit now leads you, all fear, chains, release, you stand in His Glory, your aim, now to please.

The depth of the heart, the fellowship sweet, you stand at the crosswords, one in accordance to be.

Released from the fury,
Delivered from pain, your now being mended, your God is your King.

In The Garden

A garden of love Gethsemane, for Jesus was there in prayer for thee.
The man in the son was all he could be.
A living sacrifice for you and me.
If in his hour of great despair man could have loved him, forsaking all cares.
Conviction of mind would have no place to ravage your hearts making you weak.
Sin couldn't enter one's life at it's will destroying our thoughts to spend in Sin's Hell.
