I began writing poetry in my early school years. My poetry writing lapsed during a busy nursing career and as a tutor in Community Nursing. More recently, I have enjoyed writing several poems which have been published by The National Library of Poetry. Also, I have published a book entitled "Outcasts" based on social conditions of the 2nd World War era. Besides being a housewife, I am a member of the local church, interested in embroidery and creative knitting, although especially interested in performance poetry. I see poetry as an expression of emotions and feelings through an avenue of words.

Kings College Chapel

Beyond the well nurtured lawns
Kings appealing splendour is seen
Emerging from the grey misty dawns
such attraction reigns supreme
Generations have walked this way
To admire the beauty and design
Of this renowned chapel's array
choral music and devotional shrine
Picturesque windows depicting praise
encircle candles flickering light
As sweet voices of choristers raise
Heartfelt psalms of faiths delight
Walls adorned with crowns and roses
Enhance the tones which enthrall.
The eye of the beholder never closes
On the adoration of the Magi's call
Boldly standing through the ages
A welcoming mantle for all who pray
Revered worldwide in histories pages
"Kings" a treasure forever and a day

Elysian Moments

This hurly burly life cannot compete
With natures charms matchless and sweet
Seasons are profoundly fleeting
Encapturing beauty by staying awhile
In swaying daffodils 'til windstorm beaten
And carpets of bluebells so oft beguile
As springtime buds awaken winters dreams
Of fragrant roses enchanting shades
The early dews sparkle in sunlit gleams
And moments of delight in leafy glades
The golden harvest reaped form tiny seeds
As nature yields its timely dues
Retained in memory as autumn recedes
Into crackling leaves of russet hues
Although stark winter descends
On landscapes cloaked in glistening snow
The picturesque scenery transcends
As snowflakes silently fall and so
Continues a cycle of life without cease
In the quiet hush of stillness and peace
Leaving our rush of life to surely miss
Elysian moments in time of earthly bliss

A Sentimental Journey

Before you part for overseas
I hold you for a while
Moments will my heart appease
As you leave this fair isle
Captivating eyes of blue
and your endearing smile
Baby boy can this be true?
My thoughts you do beguile
May you grow as life accords
Each milestone to succeed
As health and happiness affords
Love surrounding your every need
Time and tide bids Au Revoir
Until you return to see
The isle where you were born
England's shore and me.
