Thaddeus Capek

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

I was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, April 26, 1925. I served in the military two separate times. I am a college graduate with post graduate studies in Advanced Accounting and special student additional studies. I worked for a CPA firm and a Contractor's Heavy Machinery and Equipment Dealership as a bookkeeper, accountant, office manager and assistant treasurer all at once. I've received about a dozen Editor's Choice Awards re: The National Library of Poetry contests. I am presently polishing off an autobiography and writing poetry for possible publication. I began earnestly writing poetry around 1981. My attitude is one of subdued joy and elation; and I think that I'm unobtrusively forceful.

Start The Day With A Smile

Start the day with a smile.
Make everything worthwhile.
Live this day the best you can;
For it will never come again.

Say a little prayer now and then
and now be good to all men.
Today banish all sorrows
and make good to all tomorrows.

Let your works shine before men
And so you can say "Amen."
Toil in all kinds of weather.
Be kind to sister and brother.

May your joys be so plenty
That they glory you immensely.
"You shall know them by their fruits,"
Be they animals or bruts.

Your sufferings are not in vain
Even though they cause you some pain.
Live by the sweat of your brow.
Live happily then and now.

Ash Wednesday

"Dust thou art and to dust thou shall return."
Forbid it not to happen in Hell to burn.
Forever will be your eternity.
Meditation is also good for me.

The period of Lent seems long.
Through it you should sing a song
Of prayer, penance and almsgiving;
After which you will a song again sing.

Pray each day a little longer:
Alone in your room to linger.
Do penance now for your sins,
You'll save time in Purgatory where it begins.

Almsgiving for the poor is what it's all about;
Fighting your adversary is a serious bout -
Overcoming temptation will prevail
And you will never ever fail.

Keep your strength up for forty days
And you won't be in a daze.
Prepare now for Heaven.
