Sister M. Marcy Baldys, CSSF

Chicago, IL, USA

Sister Marcy Baldys is the daughter of Phillip Baldlys and Genevieve Cwynar Baldys.  Sister March was born March 23, 1915, at West Hammond, ILL., coming to Medford when a small child.  Completing her elementary and secondary education in Medford and Chicago, Sister Marcy was initiated into the Felician Sisters at Mother of Good Counsel province in 1934.  Although retired, she still takes time to visit the sick at the Convent Infirmary.  The poem "A GALA OCCASION" was written by her to celebrate the 125 years of the Felician Sisters' services in the United States.

A Gala Celebration

Sound the trumpets, beat the drums
for across the Atlantic
Five Felicians have come.
"What is their mission?"
You gently say:
"Why have they come to our USA?"

To Polonia, Wisconsin
then o'er the U.S.A.
The Felicians were asked
to lead the way.
By setting up schools and Day-Care Centers
Homes for the Aged
For many to enter.

From the Atlantic to the Pacific
You'll find them today,
Orphanages, schools
and home for the stray.
In an effort to provide
A better Life's way.

Let's celebrate then in great Jubilee
their 125th Anniversary
Reaching out to the Polish Immigrants
in responding to Papal consent
At Father Dabrowski's request, they were lent.
