Sergio Centeno

Miami, Florida, USA

I was born in Managua Nicaragua in April 1968, and I enjoy creating poetry in Spanish and English as well as fine art. A poet is like a man who shows you the inside of his house. A poem is a secret on the news.

Who Are You

I wonder who you are,
I only know you name
and why my life is not
the same.

Why when I see you near
my heart beats much too fast,
is this a sign of love
at last?

To me like a mirage
one can see but not touch
I know for me your just
too much.

And trying to forget you
I send my thoughts real far
but then I look and there
you are.

When we bumped into each other
I felt that God was there,
sometimes my life is simply
fair.

You might think that I go
giving roses everyday,
I send one rose and give
my heart away.

How beautiful they are
your eyes of color blue
I only wish they could
see through.

Could you tell me who are you?
please tell me who you are,
the one who is slowly breaking
my heart.

War

To me this is war,
either way I have to fight,
it's either to fight this feeling and die
or win your heart and be alive.

They tell me that there are
many stars in the universe,
they tell me that there are
many fish in the sea,
but they don't know there's only one to me.

What is it that you have
that's just driving me crazy?
What is it that you have
so different from the rest?
I now believe I've finally seen the best.

Keep wearing those sunglasses
so I don't see your eyes,
keep wearing those sunglasses
get them out of my sight
and that might make this feeling easier to fight.

I've been looking for you
wherever I have been
I've been looking for you
and finding you is tough
but now I've found you and I will fight for love.
