Underwater Story

Dream along with a multitude of sea creatures
Cradled in the warmth of their unstable watery lair
Each diversely unique dweller living there
Having to guard against toxic waste scare
Many a needed proposed, enduring solution
As the millennium draws ever closer, let's
Hope persons come up with save the sea
Life resolutions
Sharks, dolphins, undersea botany,
All yearning to remain alive
Just as human families striving to survive
Fisherman and boats with nets in tow
Are as lethal to sea life
As the gunshot, to a tiny doe
Never forget to protect what we can
Saving the planet for future, by lending
A helping hand

The Dreaded Call

One by one they file in
Not anyone in this group
With a smile, or grin
Each carrying a summons
For jury duty to report
Citizens musing, can there by a retort?
Equipped with newspaper, books, and magazines
Page upon page filled with the latest
Newsworthy scenes
Men and Women representing a wide
Diversity for the jury pool
When selected, most obey the golden rule
Names are called without rhyme or reason
You'll be excused if you advocate treason
At last the day is over
Each person not picked will have to return
Grumblin and eyes ding a slow burn
Luckily for me, I'm a chosen one
I'll miss a day of work, out in the hot sun
I return home and open the door
There is my dog Glover, who just spilled
His bowl of food all over the floor

The Twists Of Nature

Fever pitched choreography, ballet
Swirling tango, twisted gray spiral coming closer
Bass throated roar, barely audible
A vision, both magnificent, and ferocious
The brain can hardly comprehend
A millisecond in reality
Time stands immobile, as nature
Unleashes its wrath upon the unsuspecting
Property, called home destroyed like
Pick up sticks, Trees uprooted, Boats, Trucks
And automobiles tossed about like a salad
Drama unfolding - Baited breath
No prophet can predict, the next occurrence
Man can later rebuild from this fury
Human life thrust to their endurance limit
We must have forgiveness, although never forget
Only a higher being knows the reason

Thoughts

Can you be still my heart?
While starvation, disease, global conflicts
Are so much a part in today's society
Why do some turn to terrorism, violence
Devoid of human feeling, Is this the answer?
How come we don't acknowledge more compassion
For those who are homeless and starving
Instead we bask in the glow from our own
Material possessions, Some have stirred passion
For events that invoke sorrow, and destruction
As their result, A sunrise is still beautiful
Mountains, and oceans will forever create wonder
Energy and time should be spent to conquer the
Ever existing plagues to human survival
This and other challenges should fuel the power
For society, to check the pulse of humanity
