Sam Weaver

Shreveport, Louisiana, USA

I was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on July 17th, 1941. My parents are Sam and Dena Weaver. I started writing when I married my wife Alberta, but in 1995 Alberta was taken from me in a terrible car wreck in which I almost died. During the dark days that followed I kept writing. I endeavor to glorify God in my writing and some of my poems are on bookmarks and cards of inspiration, a few, have been turned into songs. I have remarried and my wife's name is Judy Weaver. Judy's love has literally turned my whole life around.

Shadows Of The Heart

God's kingdom lies hidden
In shadows of the heart
Where sin keeps God and man
Spiritually apart
Shadows of the heart
Are Satan's defenses
He uses to confuse
Man's human senses
But Jesus sheds light
On shadows of the heart
By rebirthing anew
Man's spiritual part
Then God's kingdom's revealed
As the light rushes in
It was never very far
It was always within

Just Close Your Eyes

I feel myself going
My life's almost through
Tell me my son
What must I do
Mother you're at the time
When temporal flesh dies
But you have Jesus
So just close your eyes
You're about to escape
Out of the storm
Of this cursed earthly life
Away from all harm
Just close your eyes
You're part of the bride
Jesus is waiting for
On the other side

Quiet Strength

No self seeking motives
Or being in the forefront
No being focused upon
In a grandeur hunt
Quiet strength is praying
With tireless love
Focusing in through Jesus
On the things above
Like the force behind
Gentle breezes blowing
Their prayers are unseen winds
That keep us all going
Quiet strength belongs
To the steadfast and true
and that's why my darling wife
I will always love you
