The Engagement

We, your children, plan to marry
Babies though your image sees.
Hopefully we'll try to carry
Love to both our families.

All the lessons that we've treasured
Didn't fall on deafened ears.
Thus the graduations measured
Growing always through the years.

Lord, please lead them to discover
That the choosing isn't theirs
For each mate there is no other
Help them listen to our prayers.

Don't be so afraid to lose us
Parenting can find no ends!
"Letting go" cannot abuse us
More than parents...be our friends.

Anniversary Tribute

We gather here to honor them
Respecting love that gave us birth.
We are the branches of that stem
Who wish them long life on the earth.

It's not just what our law decrees
That calls us to bestow this praise;
But what we feel on bended knees
In gratitude for all their days.

We can't repay our loving home
Nor wisdom laced with aiming high.
We can recall the strength they've shown
And courage just enough to try.

Lord, grant this union as before
Has two hearts beat in harmony.
The years fulfilled and many more.
Their lives with us... our treasury!

A Loving Farewell

I cannot let you grieve for me
For those who love must let us go.
In comfort, please believe I'm free
From all the pain life can bestow.

As I begin my world anew,
Consider not what used to be.
I'm sending happy smiles to you
While I enjoy eternity.

Lord, bless the home from which I came.
Yet brush each lonely hour away
With fond remembrance of my name
And sunshine for a newer day.

Look to the wind to find me there
Beside the hardest things you do.
I've left my love within this prayer.
I'm always watching over you.
