Pembrokeshire, UK

I was born on 1st July 1915 and was married at 23. Had five sons and my family on my own, from 1947. The boys went into the Junior Leaders at sixteen. My daughter married at eighteen, she had three children; she died at age thirty-two from blood poisoning after an operation. The boys are all married, now I have twenty-three grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. I lived in Bath until 1982 when I came to Wales where three of my sons and their families live. We are very happy here, its a beautiful place.

The Extra Mile

Each day we were urged,
A little longer to walk.
As the wagon train rolled along.
The days were grim, so we raised our chins.
And sang a happy song

We broke our hearts, as we buried our young,
The old and not so strong
We pray each day to the Lord for strength
We didn't think of the clouds and length.
Of the roads we walked along.

The nights were short,
the days were long.
The children quiet so
no laughter or song.

We came at last to a
valley so green.
Tired and happy, what a
wonderful scene.
The prophet stood,
he wore a smile
And thanked the Lord,
for the extra mile.

What Is a Friend

A friend is a husband,
a mother, a wife.
A father, a sister, a brother.
A friend is the one you turn to
when there's strife
The one who is there when there's trouble.

A friend is the one, who stays
faithful and true.
Who guides you along,
when you stray.
Jesus is your friend
who guides you each day.
So remember the Lord,
when temptation is near.
Open your heart and mind
Put temptation behind you
the rest of the day
Just go down on your knees
and pray
