Australia, NSW

I am the granddaughter of the late Edward and Eliza Browne Albertland Pioneers, New Zealand. The daughter of Captain Thomas Sewell and May Sewell. My poetry was not written until I went to Scotland in 1981. I am a war widow and I have five children, and fifteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. My poem "A Little Church" has been published by The National Library of Poetry. I hope to complete my life story soon so my children can read my adventures in life.

Fishing Dream

IÕm going fishing said he with a faraway
Look in his eyes
He was already on the sea, with the gentle
Sway of the water
Lapping the sides of the boat.

IÕll get some fish for you he said
I may even catch a whale
And then I can really talk and tell
A fantastic tale.
But alas and alack, I had a peep
And I could see it just wasnÕt
Meant to be.
He was asleep in a world
Of his own.

It was only a dream.

Crying

My heart cries out in the wilderness
What has happened to the world today?
Sadness, anxiety and despair
No helping hand is there to find,
Is this living, Heaven? or is it Hell?
You know I can not longer tell.

Where is the kindness that used to be?
Compassion gone, is it you? or me?
Have we forgotten how great it used to be.

There is still something for us to hold onto,
A little childÕs smile,
A little childÕs hand, given so freely,
And trusting us, he doesnÕt fuss,
He doesnÕt frown, he is full of love
And knows no bounds.

So let us be caring and loving too,
This applies to me and also you.

A Plea From me to You

Tonight my love walked away
My heart was crying with dismay
My feelings are a tangled mess
How can he leave me when I care?

I feel like running, I know not where
I love this man with a gentle soul.
How can he leave me in the cold
This man I thought was mine has gone.

To greener pastures he may think
Just spare a thought for me my dear
I look for you and you're not there
IÕll love you till the day I die.

DonÕt throw my love right back at me
I need you and you needed me
My hurt is strong but IÕll survive
Our heaven together was meant to be.

Oh! Please my lover come back to me.
