Oscar Estes

Corpus Christi, TX

After some thirty years of writing for the pleasure of expressions, Oscar published five small books of "Poems and Proverbs" by the Brentwood Press in the early 90's. He also had poems published by "The National Library of Poetry" and by "Who's Who in New Poets." Trained as a minister with majors in Koine Greek and Spanish, he served as both pastor and missionary. His philosophy of fullness of life is seen in his poetry. He believes that kindness sewn in the hearts of others will bear fruit in one's own life. He lives in retirement in Corpus Christi, TX.

Where Art Thou?

Where art thou, O, elusive time,
That flies as we are employed?
O, mercurial mystery of life
That is something that can't be destroyed.

For what is time? A sunbeam's angle?
Or the position of stars or the moon?
We named something that doesn't exist
When an angle can determine noon.

Now I ask you , O wise Sage, Sir,
Can something be non-existent?
Can an angle of light determine
What isn't or what is extent?

The bent of your mind is shaped
By something that we call, time
But it is not really there at all
When its something that we can't find.

While you are considering this enigma
And while you are becoming deranged
Those all - important angles of light
Have suddenly all gone thru a change.

HEART TO HEART

Heart to heart in all candor
I must till you of your worth
Your apparent intrinsic value
Has attended you since your birth

Face to face I want to apprise you
How invaluable you are to me
I can see in your true reflection
That which I surely want to see

Eye to eye we should see it
As life is really meant to be
There is a niche for you to fill
There is one that's meant for me

Back to back we shall defend
Against that which would spoil
Every onslaught we shall defeat
Every turmoil we shall foil

Soul to soul there is an echo
Who can determine its true source?
Source and echo shall blend and meld
When two loves have run their course.
