I was born 12 June 1915 in Birmingham, retired and widowed, a mother to three children: Patricia, Reginald and Frank. I am a grandmother to Craig, Karen, Lee, Louise, Jayne, Deborah, David and Philip. My poems have been published in various anthologies, also a local magazine. I found this to be a natural progression into song writing, which have since been produced as demo's. I am now a member of The International Society of Poets and of The B.A.S.C.A. My inspiration's always come from life, hoping in writing, my feelings will touch others.

The Family Tree

We've got a family album
Like a family tree
A thrill to turn the pages
The pictures we can see

Starting off with grands and greats
Then slowly down the line
Like a book of history
A journey through the time

Fashions start to alter
Mustaches come and go
Ladies skirts skip up and down
A proper fashion show

Top hats change to boaters
To caps then none at all
Ladies bonnets disappear
And so does grannies shawl

Picture's change to colour
Black and white has gone
A different place, a different time
So much to look upon

But what is so amazing
Is the likeness we can see
Showing up the genes
Right through our family tree

The Treasure of Life

Life is a journey
A journey of time
Where a heart needs another
To give it a shine

We're all on a journey
With two paths to take
One that is right
And the one that can break

With many a set back
We'll find hard to bear
It's love and true friendship
That will help us to care

For a heart that is lonely
Can fill up with strain
Like a plant that can wither
Without sun and rain

So together when sharing
Surely we'll find
it's the treasure of life
That can give peace of mind
