My name is Nola Kinziger and I would like to tell you a few things about myself and what inspired me to write poetry. I am 57 years old and I have been married for 37 years with 2 children and 1 grandchild. In my former profession I was a cosmetology instructor for Pivot Point International. Due to major illnesses beyond my control I was involuntarily forced into retirement in 1985. It truly was a devastating experience for me but in time I had to overcome that obstacle in my life and decided to express myself through poetry. I have been interested in poetry since I was in high school. I have always enjoyed literature and poetry as well as short stories.

Higher Goal

When Life goes astray
pray

Events none can foresee
faith have we

Embrace the pain
a higher goal you may attain

Calm your fear
God's answer is near

Shall be for the best
God's word will attest

Do We

Do we know how someone else can feel?
Is their pain no less real?

Cries all inside
Yet they abide

Courage have they fault not their own?
Eyes project fear, are they alone

Imprisoned in a body they no longer control
Tragedy has taken it's toll

Do we know of their strife?
Heartache companion for life

Dependent on strangers for every care
Shame impossible to bare

For without you, they are lost
Human dignity bought for monetary cost

Dealt a mortal blow
Basic defense has ceased to flow

No future, barely remembers the past
A fortress of solitude, till death at last

So do we know you ask
Only God accepts that enormous task

Ode To A Loved One

A loved ones gone, where do I go
That special bond has ceased to flow

Secrets shared, absent with your passing
Where are you now, I'm asking

Phones cannot bridge the miles this time
Oh loved one of mine

Words passed, some I regret
Strands of memories I shall not forget

A teacher of life you were to be
Lessons taught are passed to me

I feel no pain, I'm finally free
The last words you spoke to me

We spread your ashes over the earth
To flow on the wind, in the place of your birth

You leave a legacy of love and devotion
Now, how do I deal with death, the deepest emotion
