Nancy Rose Nichols

Whittier, North Carolina

I am now retired, enjoying my mountain log house in Whittier. I am active in church and have been writing poetry from the inspirations given to me since 1971. I like to read, I love the mountains and I love roses. I have had poems published in the local newspaper, church bulletins and newsletters; by the Sparrowgrass Poetry Forum and The National Library of Poetry; recorded on "Sounds of Poetry" and featured in a song by Premier Melodies. I have published one book of poetry entitled, "Treasured Writings from the Heart of Nancy Nichols" and written another entitled, "Mountain Inspirations." I like my poems to be a blessing to others.

'If Life Could Be Like a Book

If life could be like a book
Where dreams always come true
And everything works out
Just as you want them to do;

The hero is always handsome
The heroine captures his heart
Their love is ever enduring
For only in death will they part;

The courtship is full of adventure
Events may take a wrong turn
One thinks that love will elude them
But the smoldering fire will burn;

'Til everything comes together
True love always wins out
The end is happiness for ever after
Trust complete without a doubt;

If life could be like a book
Where dreams always come true
And it's heaven here on earth
To love and be loved all life through.

See The Blue Sky

The storm rages mercilessly
There seems to be no hope
Problems mounting higher
Wonder how to cope;

The storm passes over
You see the blue sky
Darkness turns to light
You see no need to cry;

For suddenly you realize
You are not alone
God is ever there
Seated on His throne;

He understands your trials
The burdens that you bear
He's also in control
Of all that would ensnare

In the devil's spider trap
God will set you free
From the webs of weariness
And give you victory.
