Nancy Durnell

Yuma, Arizona

Nancy is a retired administrator and teacher. She has been writing poetry for 20 years and has been published by The National Library of Poetry. She is an active member of her community and participates in various volunteer programs. Nancy is also an avid gardner who loves growing vegetables and wildflowers in the desert. She combines these hobbies into gifts that she joyously shares with loved ones. Nancy says, "I feel free and happy when I write poetry or dig in the dirt. They are calming to my soul and help me to be fulfilled."

Times Are A Changin'

Purple pansy pot holders,
Yellow monochrome - in 3D
Tiny stitches, musty, packed away
in cedar HOPE chest.
Gosh! They sure don't make MOTHERS
like they used to.

Sweet Angel in Disguise

Sweet Angel in disguise
floated into sight one day.
Showed me how to live and die,
little peoples love and honest child thoughts,
understanding
life.
Whispering quietly to myself,
pretending that I knew.
How can I repay a
minds eye angel,
for eternity?

Ever notice 'bout chess
Nestles Chocolate don't always mix well,
though, one who's learned in the game
can concentrate his players places to win,
which is what the game is all
about in the long run.
