Nada Sanders

La Mesa, California

I have been residing in San Diego for the past seven years with my wonderful dog, Milana. I wrote my first poem at age nine and have continued writing for the past thirty years. It is my belief that creativity holds no bounds or limitations. Creativity comes from the deepest part of myself; my soul. This enables me not only to be in touch with my true essence, but to share and express with others who I am. In doing so I have received a most precious gift; I am accepted, cared for and loved.

Disguise

Halloween and All is Well
but for those Poor Souls
who rot in Hell,
brought to Life in Festive Attire-
Tricks or Treats?, the jest is all in fun;
Who knows of those
Screaming for Someone.
Pumpkins, Witches, Vampires, Bats
Who really dwells beneath those hats?
Hoods
of the most destructive kind--
the world is having so much fun,
is everyone so Blind?
-to that which lies beneath disguises-
Who will receive first prize?
My vote goes to...The man in the business suit
respected citizen, husband and father
with the Friendly Smile;
-BEST COSTUME-
hiding the Evil in his eyes.

Discovery

Knock lightly on the door
to your heart
and it will open.
You need not a key
to twist and turn.
Only the desire to enter
and it shall open for you,
as easily as a breeze
may blow upon it.
Step inside and behold
the wondrous light, peace
beauty, contentment -
Answers for which you have
been searching.
Whisper quietly, "I am here",
within myself -
Inside that secret door I once
believed to be tightly locked forever,
and give thanks, Rejoice!

Wisdom

The waves break
before they reach
their destination.
Only to pause
briefly
in the shallowness,
before returning
to depths unknown.
Much wiser
having touched
the shore.
