Rosemary Lake

United Kingdom

I come from a farming family, I was born in Devon, but have lived most of my life here in Sussex. I have one son at Cambridge University. I started writing poetry in 1995 after my husband died. It has helped me to come to terms with the loss of my best friend and a wonderful father. Life goes on and there is still much to look forward to.

Daydreams

Endless days of childhood dreams,
That never seem to fade,
Close your eyes and bring them forth,
In sunlight and in shade,
The pony standing by the gate,
His nose was soft to touch,
His breath, a warm breeze, on my face,
I loved him oh so much,
A summer stretched in time and space,
strands of hair blown around my face,
The turbulence of all our lives,
That follow through the years
Stirs in our minds, and takes us back,
In laughter and in tears.
Restored we rise, go forth renewed,
There is still so much to do,
Maturing dreams that lie ahead,
They really could come true.
