I was born in Hopkinstown Pontypridd 26-10-21. I had a very happy childhood educated at Hopkinstown and Llanwood schools, also a regular member of St. David's Church. Captain of hockey, netball and rounders. I have bronze, silver and gold for dancing. I love swimming, walking and driving, also gardening and knitting. I started nursing as a student nurse at the age of seventeen and I retired at 55 years old. I have been married to my husband Haydn for 54 years. We have a daughter Eileen, a florist, and a son Alan, a police sergeant. Both have two children. My philosophy to life is be true to yourself, then you can live with yourself. Take care of your body and your body will take care of you. My gran's advice.

Home

My home is in the mountains
Far beneath the sky
With views across the valley
The place where I shall die

The years have gone but happy ones
The children fled the nest
I am alone, but this my home
Is where my body rests

The laughter and the tears have passed
The rooms are empty know
My thoughts and memories all will last
For the love that I have known.

Its sad to say as we grow old
Our life is short but sweet
How we live our life is told
One day by God we'll meet.

Freedom*

Out in the South Atlantic
Our brave men go
To fight for peace and freedom
Against a hidden foe

With ships and planes they sail the sea
In freedom for the world to see
Our hearts and prayers with them go out
Till peace at last we'll hear them shout

Long days and nights on icy lands
The British men now withstands
The bombing raids and missiles too
Fighting for the likes of me and you

God Bless you one and all I say
Your fight for freedom be not delayed
And when again once more you come
Back home again your job well done

*written at the beginning of the Falklands War

Flowers

What is it about the honeysuckle
Who's perfume smell so sweet
What is it about the petals
That curl as if in sleep
It is the perfumed flower
That's loved about the land
And in its sweetly tendrils
God has placed his hand.

The Earth

I love the sun, as it sets on high
I love the moon among a starry sky
But most of all I love the earth
The trees, the flowers, the birds, and birth
of man, however great or small
God's children everyone and all
