Dorothy Durrant

United Kingdom

I was born in Rottingdean, Sussex, England to Frances and Leonard Geall on 4/7/36. In 1961 I was married to my husband Bill, and we now have four wonderful children and a granddaughter born on my birthday last year! More about the family and other poems can be found in "Pondering Thoughts", published last year. This book can be obtained from Camperdown Publishing, 11, Mendip Avenue, Eastbourne, BN23 8HP at 9.99 pounds. Much of my inspiration has come through knowing Jesus as my Saviour and Friend. I pray you will find joy, help and encouragement from reading my poems. God bless you.

Romantic Courtesy

He would tip his hat as the lady passed by
When walking along the street
He would take her hand and give it a kiss
Whenever they would meet
He'd open the door of the carriage
When taking a leisurely drive,
Then help her down so carefully
When eventually they'd arrive
He'd take her arm and escort her
Through the doorway and the hall
When visiting a restaurant
Or going to a ball
He'd put her cloak around her
In a loving caring way
A courteous romantic gentleman
But, where is he today !?

Our English Heritage

We live in a beautiful part of the world
This land so lush and so green
Beauty surrounds us everywhere
The moors and dales, the babbling brook
The lakes and majestic hills,
The meadows and streams, the rivers too
Where stand the old rustic mills,
The towns and cities with cathedral tall,
The village with church and green,
The quaint thatched cottage with inglenook
And large country house with beams,
The parks and gardens with stately homes
To wander around and explore,
The differing moods of the restless sea
Which surrounds our land and shore
It's a great land to live in
I think you'll agree
This English Island so fine
I trust this is how it will always remain
Until the end of time

God's Love

No other love could ever be
So wide, so vast, so true
Ever patient, ever kind
His love for me and you
God's love does not
Switch off and on
Constant it remains,
God's love will last for ever
And will always be the same.
