Wilfred William Frary

Norwich, Norfolk

I was born at Wortwell on August sixteenth 1913. I am a retired gardener and was married 54 years to my wife Mabel who is, alas, now passed on. I have two lovely daughters, five grand children, also five great grand children. I worked at a big house as a head of gardens and house. I think this work was the start of my life with God for it was he I could relate to the parables of the sower and the seed by working with nature and the power of God beneath my feet everyday, for twenty three years. I had the honour of serving God in a small chapel which my wife helped in every way she could. My first poem was accepted in 1984 and has been all over the world. I wonder if other people have been as blessed as I have.

Closing Years

What has happened to this world
So full of greed and shame
For all that is happening now
We must take some of the blame

Yes slow to stop the impact
On us all around
We must take a fresh look
As we work and toil

Do we feed our children
With the dross thats thrown around
Or do we dice with quicksands
Or stand on solid ground

Now is the time I beg you
To make another start
Bring them up the way you should
Before they break your heart

For Jesus is the answer
For all your needs just now
Turn around and clean the soil
For new seed to grow.

From The Oppressed

Have you watched the tears of those
Who are oppressed each day
Or do you not care and carry on
And go your separate way

Have you watched those children
Battered bruised and torn
Weeping by the roadside
Lost and all forlorn

Do you feel the guilt
When you see this sight
Or do you say within my heart
This is not my fight

What if it were your children
Battered bruised and lost
Stranded in a wilderness
How could you count the cost
You do not know whats in their hearts
While war is all around
But one things sure unless we teach
A peace will never be found
