My wife compiles a book of my poems - "To All Our Yesterdays" in aid of Registered Medical Charity. I am very concerned about the destruction our planet's environment in the interest of science. Standards of human health are allowed to fall, alarmingly, in the pursuit of profit.

A Gentle Love

Ours is a gentle love
That flows as if a singing stream
need never seek the lowland plain
And never fall from hills so green.
Ours is a sweetheart's love
As if that first day dawns again
And when the golden sun does set,
Our tranquil lives remain.

In Memory of General Gordon

The Empire's setting sun
Herald's the return of a warrior's glory.
An effigy in bronze
Tells of distant battles won.
From a silent field of sand,
Wherein now lie the tokens
Of a nation's blood,
Returns a treasure-trove,
From the coffers of Omduran.

The Colosseum, Rome

Ten million stones recall
Ten thousand Souls whose anguished cries
Of victory arose from this arena.
For such contempt that man had shown
He trod the path of pain
surmounting human weakness yet again.
He led the way through just such vales
And with two thousand years now gone
We dwell upon such Grace.
