Michael D. Jones

Houston, Texas

I have been writing poetry since October 4, 1993. I am self employed. I am a member of The International Society of Poets and the First Baptist Church of Houston. I have over fifteen poems published through The National Library of Poetry. I have written over 3,000 poems and 300 songs. All that I do I try with my might, to do for the Glory of God.

Beautiful Butterfly

Beautiful butterfly
emerge from your cocoon.
And spread your beautiful wings
unto the sun,
for it is high noon.

As I drink in your beauty
with my eyes.
The fact that such beauty
could only be created
by Almighty God,
I fully realize.

Little Hummingbird

Look at the little hummingbird hover over there.
Isn't it amazing how he seems to stand still in mid air.

Big bang, you say and by mere happenstance
that the hummingbird is this way.
Almighty God spoke it and so it was,
one fine and wonderful day.

The Elephant

The elephant so regal and so grand.
And so much larger than a puny man.

Yet Almighty God did give us
dominion over you.
And we have done such a terrible job,
for we have diminished your number
down to just a few.
