Masako has been writing tanka poetry since she was in senior high school. She is now a university freshman of bioengineering. She has had her poetry published in a local newspaper and is a member of a local tanka group. She has been awarded prizes in four contests. She plans to make a collection of her tanka poetry when she turns twenty. She likes to compose tanka poems reflecting various aspects of her daily life. |
Reaped at a time, the rice paddy gushes the smell of the earth.
Like walking on a thin layer of ice, I try daily to control myself.
With water fizzing into the earth, I enjoy gardening the yard with my grandmother.
Choosing Father's favorite bread less salty, I find my fingers colored rose from the sunset.
