Changes

We had a dream, my love and I
That we would live here till we die.
We know not why the change in plans,
Only that God does change a man.

He gibes to one to help the other,
Then gibes to each the love of a brother.
His love for us with warmth and care
We leave within this home to share.

Its cozy and comfortable, the light just right
With a glowing fire on a dark, cold night
Or a day in spring with wind in your hair
You look to the sky and know God's there.

We say farewell to memories dear
And hope our presence will linger near.
May this home be as you desire,
A perfect place when you retire.

We leave a prayer with you dear friend,
God's love and grace on you descend.
May you find peace and joy within
Until you go home to be with him.

We Two

A cabin, a porch, two old rocking chairs
Some work to do but nobody cares.
A man and his wife sit holding hands,
Talking over their well laid plans.

The toil, the work is now all done,
And they have planned to have some fun.
They have scrimped and saved, even delayed
The time n their lives they would have played.

The old chairs creak as they rock to and fro,
The man smokes his pipe as his wife sits and sews.
They stop a moment, take a breath of clean air
And they settle back in their old rocking chairs.

Their friends stop by to see time spent,
By the two old people who seem so content.
They can't understand how we two could be
So peaceful and happy, just you and me.

We worked, we laughed and saved and prayed,
God's call for us would be delayed.
We wanted some years to have some fun
And love them under the mountain sun.

We're happy and content as you can see,
Two old rocking chairs, you and me.
God gave us each other and His love besides,
And we'll walk down life's pathway with Him at our sides.
