Chris started writing serious poetry as soon as high school was over.  She worked her way through college and graduated nearly debt free from Michigan State University with high honors in English Education.  Besides presenting numerous poems in written form, Chris has sung and read them before groups of up to 400 people.  This year her first book of poetry should be coming forth.  Meanwhile she considers herself an active full-gospel Christian, freelance social worker and political activist.  What is for Christ lives!  My poetry is for Jesus.

The Face Of God

The grandeur of God
Is like the purple on the mountain tops
Regal in the golden sun.

Its velveteen splendor
Reduces the oceans to a dull green
But sparkling reflections
Of celestial brilliance
Renew the splendor of the skies.

No one knows the beauty
Of rich God-painted hues
So much as You
Oh, Creator of all color
All substance, all being.

I desire the thrill of autumn changes
The sparkle of the midnight sky
The powerful awe of the wind and rain.
I desire a touch of the Creator
The mental image of God Himself.
Alas, Nature reflects His beauty.
I come so close to seeing The Face of God.

He Is The King Of The Jews

The ointment was for My Redeemer.
The tears were for His grave.
The love I felt so within my spirit
Was the new life that He gave.

Each hammer blow was a cry of anguish
Not from Him, but me, as I made my way.
In the shadows of His almighty mission
The Rock, great Peter, could not stay.

And a mother's heart to a brother given
Could hold no pain any worse than mine.
My great sweet Master and precious Teacher
Had left this earth as does all Mankind.

But we soon all learned to the praise of heaven
That a mother's son and a brother's friend
Had faced all hell and returned to heaven
To right the wrong and come back again.
