I was a professional singer in the past. I started singing at the age of 16 at all functions and loved every minute of it. I met my husband while I was singing and sang at my own wedding. Unfortunately, my husband is not here to share this happiness with me. I dedicated this poetry to him in the early years and all my life. |
1942The day you went to the armyYou left me lonely and blue I didn't know where to go, Or even know what to do Then a letter came telling me to visit Scott Field, Illinois So I packed my bags and off I went to see my soldier boy. After seeing you and St. Louis It made me very happy and gay But then leaving you, and going back N.Y. Made me feel sadder in every way Weeks went by and then news came You were coming on a furlough to N.Y. How happy I was to see you We laughed, had fun and talked, The ten days flew by so fast and back to camp you went. Leaving me memories of the pleasant hours we spent 1000 miles separate us now But I'm thinking of you day by day Hoping, wishing and praying That God will send you back to me "Someday". To my Sweetheart in the Army |
My One RomanceMy one romance is far away from meAnd I am; hoping praying constantly It seems so long since you have gone away, But I keep thinking of you night and day I feel it won't be long before you will return. Until that day will come, oh how my heart will yearn My darling won't you hurry back to me For I am waiting for you patiently. |
TAKE ME IN YOUR ARMSSince the day we met, I felt you were the one for meTake me in your arms and say your mine, It was fate for us, to be this loving pair And now the day has come for us to share, A love like ours will never fade away For it is true love that makes us happy and gay Darling I say, Now that we are wed, I hope that we will never part Take me in your arms, close to your heart. |
