Martha C. Page

Centerville, Tennessee

I, Martha C. Page, was born on September 27,1926, in rural Hickman County, Tennessee, I was one of twelve children that grew up in a three room log house. My parents were Jim and Lillie (Bradley) Harrington. I attended school in a one room building, with one teacher for eight grades. Shortly after World War II, I married C.G. Page from Dickson, Tennessee. To this marriage five children were born; Judy, Larry, David, Kenny, and Kim. I have been writing poetry since 1982. I am proud and honored to be a life time member of International Society of Poets.

A PRAYER

Lord, help me to be what I should be,
Help me to live a life that's free.
Free from all care, all doubt and strife
Help me to live a sinless life.

Lord, help me live like I should live,
And to another love to give.
Lord, may I never stray away
So I can live with you someday.

NOW IS THE TIME

Now is the time for striving to end.
Now is the time for broken hearts to mend.
Now is the time for loving each other.
Now it the time to take care of our brothers.

Now is the time for bridges to build.
Now is the time for overcoming strong wills.
Now is the time for doing good deeds.
Now is the time to fall on our knees.

Let us use our time wisely, it's precious indeed.
Moments are swiftly fleeing, and to you I plead
Let us all work together and make our Lord proud.
We are one nation under God, proclaim it long and loud!

WHEN I'VE CLIMBED THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN

I have seen the blue Pacific
From the California shore.
I've seen the painted desert
And felt my spirit soar!
I stood on the highest mountain
And looked up to the sky.
Some day I'll cross over
To live in glowy, by and by.

I have seen the great Atlantic
Rolling high above the tide,
Stood on the sandy beaches
And watched the surfers ride
I have felt the sea breeze blowing
Lifting high above the foam
Seen honey bees swarming
And ate honey from their comb.

I have seen the gardens growing
And the budding of the trees.
I've seen golden wheat fields
Blowing gently in the breeze
I have seen the lightening flashing
Heard the mighty thunder roar.
I'll leave it all behind me
When I cross to the other shore,

When I've climbed the highest mountain
And my labors here are o'er
Then I'll be with Jesus on the Hallelujah shore!
